So when is a consultant the wrong answer?

You're probably wondering why I'd give someone a reason not to hire me. It's a fair point. Hear me out.

You bring in outside help when you're stuck and can't figure it out. You want to grow, you're drowning, there aren't enough hours in the day or dollars in the bank. There are times, though, when a consultant isn't going to help.

  • You aren't ready to actually change. A consultant can't want it for you. You have to be real about whether you're willing to put in the time and effort, and do what it takes to make real change.
  • You're just looking for someone to tell you what to do. We aren't magically experts in your business or industry. We're there to provide a framework, accountability, and tools to help you execute what you already know.
  • You're just looking for someone to do it for you. Lasting change doesn't come from having someone else do the job you're supposed to do. If I just write your processes and run your meetings for you, it all comes crashing down the second I step back.
  • You aren't committed to the work. This stuff is very easy to de-prioritize against the day-to-day work that feels more urgent. If you aren't prepared to dig in and dedicate real time and effort, nothing is going to change.

If any of those describe your situation, you aren't ready.

So when is the right time?

  • You know what you want to achieve, but not how to get there.
  • You have the capacity, but need outside perspective and accountability.
  • You're at an inflection point, and you know that if you want to keep growing, something has to change.

If that sounds more like you, let's talk.
